stumbling 5.0
The symptoms. When accelerating my 93 5.0 will stumble and hesitate also the tach sticks and bounces at about 2500 rpm when this happens. The car idles fine and once you let off the gas and maintain an even speed it runs smoothly.
Things Ive tried to fix it. Swapped coil, ignition module on distributor, swapped 02 sensors, cap and rotor, checked tps voltage and timing on distributor, disconnected msd spark box. No I didn't buy all that stuff! Any ideas what I might try next? Thanks in advance for any help. |

Have you checked your fuel pressure? I'd check that to see what it looks like. I don't know about the tach. Could also be the maf. My old 95 had those problems minus the tach thing when the maf went bad. It could also be many other things.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge but i did run codes and did not get any thing related to the maf. all the codes I gat were related to to missing emissions components. I s there another way to test the maf?

Check for vacuum leaks. You can then clean the maf to make sure it isn't dirty. Then check this out. You can test with a voltmeter.

Thanks for the help mightyjo. Gonna try the maf test monday when I get a chance. Iam little leery of piercing the wires so i might try and swap it with a friends first to see if that cures it.

Turned out to be the spark plug on number 2 cylinder. There were 2 hairline cracks on the white part ( the insulator?) . Runs great now!
