Why wont my car start?
My 95 gt hasnt started in about 2 weeks, i ordered the whole ignition kit:spark plugs, wires,coil,cap/rotor etc. and then i put it on today and the car still wont start, and my spark plug reader is showing very weak spark...what else could be causing it not to start, please respond quickly so i can get it started as soon as possible

Does that car have a module on the distributer? There are a few things that can cause weak spark, you replaced most but not all of them. You need to check voltage at the coil, make sure you have good spark at the coil, and if you search google theres a way to ohm test the module. I had a 5.0 tbird that had nice spark at the coil, but after the cap it dropped off massively. I checked each component I listed, and found the coil to be faulty. It would produce a hot spark, but not enough to go thru the gaps in the dist cap. Hope this helps.

yeah we checked the fuel and its good, so not the fuel pump..and we test the spark at the coil and it has a weak one..and then i called my uncle because he had this exact problem on his 5.0 f250 a few years back and hhis was the ignition module so we are gonna check that and hopefully thats what it is..thank you for the help, if the ignition module doesnt work its most likely what you suggested

Common ignition problems on these cars is the PIP in the distributor and the ignition module.

Did I miss a post? I didnt even see anyone suggest checking the fuel. Ignition modules tend to go bad from heat. You can prolong their life by putting some Dielectric grease everywhere it touches. I would have replaced the coil 1st, heck I think you can get one for 15$ and if it dont solve the problem take it back and get the module. I know I HATE autozone, but get a coil there and just hook it up without mounting it. See if that solves your problem. If not you can say you replaced the module 1st and didnt need the coil.

we have already replace the coil and the plug wires and new spark plugs today..and was looking at a new ignition module and they are around $60-70 and i like oreillys better lol, but so are you saying to put dielectric grease on the ignition module or the coil?

On the module. Most of them come with it. Put it on the connections.. not the plastic lol. If it has a solid steel plate where it connects to the dist, put some there as well. Dont use so much that the grease causes the connections to touch. Sorry I didnt see you said you replaced the coil. Its gatta be your module. If not you may be looking at a new ecm.

Its usually gray in color and has a harness connected to it. Its below the dist cap and before the dist shaft. It sticks out usually pointing toward the pulleys.

I have no Idea what a PIP is on a dist. Are you talking about the pickup coil? If so it is inside the distrib and you have to remove it to replace it. If you are going to go thru replacing that and the module, you should just get a remanufactured dist that has a new pickup and module.

The TFI module isn't under the distributer on the 94 or 95. Its located on the passenger side fender well under the air box assembly if I remember right. Been a while since I sold my 95.

Not from the diagram that shows up in autozones web site. They show it being the same one in the 79-93. I believe you are thinking about the mod engine.

You are correct. In 1994 Ford moved it to the fender well on the Mustangs just like the trucks to get it away from engine heat.
