Small thing to watch for is when you 1st install it, make sure you fill, crank car, only 5ish seconds, and turn off, if you dont put in enough on install & leave running for it to get dry, itll whine everytime, and use Type F Transmission fluid w/ Lucas.

the secret lies in the type of fluid you use............ if you research on some ford websites like corral.net you'll find the answer

ok guys, well i think i may have foudn the problem, after replacing the pump with one from auto zone i sat there for like 15 minutes and just turned the steering wheel from side to side and it started to quiet down quite a bit and then it wasnt really noticeable anymore, well then i went out to dinner for valentines day and little did i know the pressure hose was resting on the side of the power steering pulley and eventually rubbed a hole in it and power steering fluid went everywhere and now its sitting in the driveway waiting till tomorrow until i get a new pressure hose, ugghh just my luck. Do you guys think i did any damage to the new pump? it wasnt making any weird noises and i had to drive it about a mile to get it back home. but that bitch was hard as hell to turn lol. I think it was still pumping some of whatever fluid was left in it

ALL FIXED!!
and hardly makes a sound, the hose went on easier than i thought it would the MOST IMPORTANT THING, air in the lines..it really doesnt matter what ps pump you buy the air trapped in these lines and pumps is a pain in the ass to get out. If you bleed it the right way you should have no problems this is what i did. I filled the fluid up then started the car, added a touch more fluid and then reached in through the window and turned the wheel to one side until if fully locked and then i held it there, you will hear an unsettling noise, this is ok. With your hood up and power steering cap off you should see a bunch of little bubbles coming to the top, this is the air in the lines, as soon as you have held it there for a minute or two turn it to the other side and repeat, do this until it quiets down to where it should be, this was a 15 minute job for me, so take the time and make sure you bleed it all out and then put the cap back on and your done... let me know how you guys make out |

i was gonna recommend NOT turning the wheel when the car is still. You probably also have much larger tires then stock on the front and are stressing the pump in the 1st place. When I got my car it had 205 15s and had no whine. Now I have 255 16s and it whines a lot.

well i spoke too soon i guess, i burnt up the pump driving it home after i blew the line, you can hear it buzzing inside the car, well i am tired of changing out this damn pump, hopefully this will be the last time, on a good note though i think i should enter the guiness book of world records for the fastest in changing out this pump because im getting pretty damn good at it, lol..

yeah i realized what ohsplat said about the tires, as a matter of fact i have 255's on the front so that could be whats contributing to the wine a little, but they are running out of tread so im prolly gonna bump back down to a 245 on the front and leave my 275 on the back

the pressure line somehow got close to the ps pulley and put a hole in it, which in turn fried the pump because i had to drive it back home, i thought it would be ok but its not.... ^^
