dude, the thing is full, i filled it up and looked again and its all the way to the top, and thats an interesting answer on that website, i was deciding on wether to buy a pump straight from ford but they wouldnt be able to get one till tuesday of next week and i kind of needed it before then. so maybe here in another week or 2 i will suck it up and buy a FORD power steering pump from the dealer

The guy i bought the explorer form said he switch the pump out one time becuase it was making noise and it fixed it for a while then he said it started back up, its very lound on my explorer and ive added additive as well, im not that concerned as long as the ps works. The mustang on the other hand if possible i wouldnt mind finding a relatively easy/cheap way to fix it. Maybe ill try an additive sometime

it is because it is a ford.
I replaced mine with a unit from autozne and it is doing well. I think once you run them low, they burn and make that noise until you replace it. I got one from autozone because of the life time warranty. When it makes noise again, and I'm sure it will, I'll just exchange it for a new one. |

hmm so do you think i should try auto zone then...the two that i have tried now are from advance auto? and DAP noticed u were from youngstown, i grew up in Lisbon not too far from there
also, would the fact that the car is lowered have anything to do with the power steering pump? Last edited by orangestang42; February 13th, 2011 at 02:14 AM. |

when I got mine from az, there was a tag on it advising me of a whine that is normal. It whine for a little while till I got some miles on it. It was nothing like the whine of the unit that it replaced.

If you dont want to hear the whining, convert to manual steering or buy something other than a 80-s to 90's Ford.
staying away from remanufactured pumps is a good thing to do as well.
