Went to the Track Today
So went to the track and was able to get 2 runs in. Both 13.0 at 108ish.. This is also with the stock tired tranny and launching at around 1200rpm do to the stock converter.. I know I know...
So the issue, Happened to me twice now, The car is having some trouble turning over. I went to the track and parked her, went to start and no go, tried to jump start with a cummins diesel, nope. so went and got a new battery "Red Top" and still have a hard time starting but finally did. Also after that start, the guages all tached out, ie the temp and oil pressure went all the way to the right.... So I knew this wasnt the true reading and ran my 2 passes not turning the car off and went home, Then I pulled the previous owners hack job of a security / remote start install and made sure all my grounds are good, put the battery back in the engine back and still has a hard time turning over. It sounds like there is a huge drop in amps getting to the starter.. it doesnt click or anything like that, has a new starter, new battery, all grounds are good, the only thing left that I think it could be is the power to the starter.. the starter cable its self.. It is the original, and it green with corrosion... so I just ordered a new one from summit for like 30 bucks since no store around here has one long enough and hope that fixes it... If you have any ideas besides that please let me know.... 93hatch, she feels strong dude!! I can't wait to get back from this pump and do the c4 with a high stall and do a 150 shot... oh yeah! Tim

Oh I know when the gauges tach out like that, it indicates a short somewhere... I am trying to figure out where, that's why I started ripping out all the old security / remote start shit I don't use, that the previous owner did. I wanted to eliminate that hack job outa the equation lol

Is the car doing this off of a cold start as well? If it is only doing it after the car is hot and you are going for a restart, it almost sounds like the starter is heat soaking.
This of course doesn't explain the gauge spike you are talking about, so I may be completely off base. I had the hard turn over issue when my car was hot though, replaced the starter and wrapped it with a versashield from summitt and haven't had an issue since. |

Humm, I will have to see, But It sat in the garage while I was redoing the ignition wiring for 2-3 hours then I trying to start it and got the same issue.. And its a new starter.. If replacing the power cable to the starter doesn't fix it then I will be at a loss lol. I will have to keep this in mind though, Thanks!

I think your hunch about that wire could be right.
I know you said you checked all the grounds, but the gauges wouldn't peg if the power cable was bad. they peg when they have a bad ground. so I would go over them once again. really hope you commit to that 150 shot and big stall. will get that puppy in the 10's if it hooks

Yeah, your right Army... I know the grounds in the engine bay are good, but I did forget to check the computer area and that ground there come to think of it. Im also going to pull the dash today and see whats going on with the wiring back there.

I hope you don't have to go as far as pulling the dash. I would look at the ground on the fenders, and motor first.
Idk about SN95's but on foxes your looking at the ground by the battery on the inner fender, and the ground on the timing cover on the drivers side....... as im sure your aware. then i would branch out to the starter, the ECM ground, and so on.

and don't just look at the ground point and see if its tight, chase the wire as far as you can, could have broken apart or something.

Hatch, Very True, and Army, Thanks for that link brother! So would you do the Street/strip Trans or the competition? I am leaning towards the Street/Strip cause the money saved will get me a good converter... And that seems to be all I would need to have a good time with the car

My fox used to do that, especially at the track. I replaced the terminal on the wire from the battery to the starter solenoid. Fixed everything

Yeah, I think this new cable I have coming will fix it,
And yeah That stock stall is killing me... Once I get a 3-3500 I bet I drop 4-5 tenths.... and then with the new trans behind that... oh yeah, can't wait
