Been doing some work to my '85 GT

In the past 2 weeks, Ive done a full smog delete, a/c delete - power steering relocation, hollowed the cats (they still have to be on the car in case I get pulled over and CHP decides to do a roadside inspection haha), plug wire upgrade, BBK Equal Length Shorty Headers, ditched the massive stock 460-style air cleaner for an Edelbrock uuuuh... I dont know, its triangular in shape, ditched the horribly ugly wheels that came with the car that were probably cool in 1989 and replaced them with Pony wheels, installed some Max Speed lowering springs, replaced my ugly worn out light grey stock '85 seats with some extremely clean dark grey '87 GT seats... Damn, what else? OH, the car is sitting in the garage as Im typing this, Im waiting for the fiberglass to dry on the deck lid. I ripped off the ugly '85 GT wing and replaced it with an '87 GT wing (until I get my hands on a Cobra wing), and an aluminum clutch quadrant. Oh, a battery relocation to the rear of the car, too.

Theres more, I just cant think of everything right now. Heres some pics. I just did all this because it was cheap. Got the '87 seats for free, the Pony wheels were $100 for the entire set (clean as hell, including the center caps), NEW Yokohamas all the way around the car for my old wheels and tires + $40, the '87 GT wing was free, BBK Shorty's were $30 for the set (damn near new), Ford Racing 9mm Wires were $18 for the entire set.... Yea I got some good hook ups.

In the very near future, (after an engine rebuild) some GT40 heads with a 3 angle valve job/port-polish, a stage 1 cam, aluminum intake manifold, upgrading the carburetor, pro 5.0 shifter, new clutch, cable, and firewall adjuster, shiiiit.

I just got out of the Army, they're paying me $700 a week to sit on my ass. I moved back in with my dad after his divorce. Dont have to pay rent. Have a 3 car garage to myself.... So most of that money is going into the Mustang.

Here's some pics. Enjoy.

Sorry this is turning out so long, but I have a story to tell too haha: So, myself, ALEXLOPEZ....(some numbers), his cousin, and one of our friends, the friends brothers and dad all have foxbodies. And all live within 30 minutes of each other. And we all have one friend whos been scooting around in an 198? Camaro IROC-Z with a massive cowl induction hook, Z06 wheels, headers, fuel injected 350 sbc, yada yada yada. He made fun of us for driving foxbodies and swore by his camaro. So Im at Alex's machine shop... And this kid pulls up in a beat out '91 GT vert. Traded his camaro for it. I just thought it was hilarious. We're about to role up on "Cruise Night" at Lowe's in Victorville, about 6 foxbodies deep, and show these stupid SoCal kids that a single cam Honda with a cold air intake and short throw shifter is nothing but a gutless commuter car.

Okay Im done.

One more thing. Did underdrive pulleys too. Im also taking the exhaust off a '91 vert (catted H pipe with Flowmaster dumps). Just looking around for the double-hump manual transmission crossmember, mine being a single because for some reason, Ford decided to make the stock exhaust a Y pipe..... Lame.

Why are you trash talking civics with a carbed 5 liter lol. You do realize your car more than likely runs 15's?

They actually ran 15.1-14.9 in the 1/4 mile, from the factory with a 2.73 rear gear. I know, because my dad's did back in the day when he bought it brand new in '85.

OP, nice '85. The factory air cleaner on the '85s was actually CAI. Now you're bringing in hot engine bay air. Still cool though. Cudos for staying carbed! The 4180C was a good carburetor.

I agree with what he said^ in regards to the stock intake being a cold air Intake. Now your breathing hot air. I wouldn't have put the 87 and up rear wing on it. The stock 85 wing was better and it didn't have the brake light in it. I think it was a good move though to upgrade the exhaust from the y pipe to the h pipe.

It makes me' miss my old 85 gt
