what did I do wrong?

Recently I purchased a 87 gt with a supposed 347..NOT!!! I pulled the rear-end to installe new gears, replaced a bad yoke on the driveshaft and pulled the trans to make some repairs. While all this was happening, I decided to pull the dash out, and replace the broken heater core, and install a given set of used 19# injectors since I was told that the ones in the car were aftermarket 24#. Since all was now in question, I disconnected the oil level sensor and O2 sensors and completely pulled out the k-member, and so on and so forth to such bad news. Now, I put it all back together, started the car, ensured the timing was good and** found when i shut the car off, the fuel door release unit kept clicking due to the fact i accidentally plugged it intp another connector where it shouldnt have been(and I still dont know what the connector is)**. I then disconnected the tps sensor, started the car and tried to manully lower the idle speed which was NOT happening, so I plugged the tps sensor back in and the car died. I then made several attempts to start the unit to no success. I can get the car started the first time with ether, and to idle with the screw cranked way in but the car is clearly OVERFUELING. I have REPLACED the MAP sensor, ALL the vacuum lines, the TPS sensor, the INLET AIR TEMP and COOLANT TEMP sensors, the ignition module had been recently replaced because i have slowly started to experience a jerking like a loss of electrical power at around 2300 rpms, I replaced the P/UP coil and IGNITION coil, and installed a new F/P REGULATOR. This car had started out with just spending a little and has sunk my A__!!! I'm sorry for the long story, but as a (OH CRAP) heavy truck tech...I know all info is most important. I also had a hotrod shop look into with no luck but has said there were NO codes. Any help given here would be most appreciated!!! Thanks GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you were told the car had #24's, the MAF is going to be calibrated for 24's, when you installed 19's, did you change the MAF to a unit calibrated for 19's?

My stupid.....its an sdi system, not mass air. the guy thought the sdi systems had the learning computers and so he claimed to put have put in 24's which was a lie, they were 19's and by the way, i put them back cause i thought the used ones i had got were bad.

One last thing....the small black that goes from the neg terminal of the batt. to the body which then goes to the eec shows 12.7 ohms of resistence between the body screw and the batt when the eec is connected...anyone know why this resistence went up with the eec connected??? tried a second eec...no cure.

What about a Vaccum leak?
Are you sure you didn't tear one of the injector o-rings?

I went through the same thing Minus the Fuel door issue.

Mine was a vaccum leak. Mine would start and run if I unplugged a Vaccum line. But when I plugged it back in it would die.

no torn injector o-rings...vacuum leak...no. but yes, as i start to open up air to the system by unplugging lines it starts to run better, but still, if i stomp on the throttle, it still flat spots and backfires both ways. unplugging the fuel pump relay lets it start idling better until theres no more fuel. And why will it not start like for the first time for the day unless i ether it...and then start ok for the next several hours?

Still could be something with Vaccum. Mine acted the Same way. It took me 3 weeks to find the Leak.

I also got a reading of Normal Vaccum with the leak as well. Thats why I was so stumped.

Yes that is how I finally found mine.
Mine was in the lower intake just under the throttle body. It was hard to get to it to spray as well.

ok...if it is the case, the only place for mine would be between the upper and lower and a cracked nipple for one of the lines....
I think i need to also try doing the reset thing and ensuring my tps voltages are correct. to speculate, if the car would idle at normal throttle opening with alot of the lines off, then that would help and not affect the reset process???

I did go back to the ones that were on there to start with, yes. It is idling at its normal setting, it just idles like it has the biggest baddest cam you can get, and has left a big ass black circle in my driveway and guaranteed to make you cry if you stand behind it. And it still doesnt start if it sits long enough...but 2 small squirts of ether and it fires like theres nothing wrong and will start again and again unless you let it sit for awhile

hehehe....nice thought but no. I did brainstorm a thought from something i read the other day from an old topic which is that if the coolant lines are off of the egr plate....hot exhaust gases are essentially building up against the plate and valve...removed them....just need to clean them and re-install with new gaskets and retry.

Prob not.

Whats your TPS set at? Try .98V

You talk about "disconecting the TPS" to set the idle? Why? Who told you that? If you manually want to set the idle dosconect the IAC and than adjust it.
