If you're going to spend the money on a dart 347, you can go with a 9.5 deck dart stroker for about the same cost. A well put together 400+ci windsor with forced induction has the potential to put a fox in the 8's in the quarter if it's chassis is up to par. If your goal is still 11's you can do that with just about any combination. It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want out of the car. If you've got the money for a dart block combo and you want to go fast, I would go 9.5 deck and not look back. Just my .02

408 liberator kit w/ bottom end package except cam - 3500-4000 (w/ shipping to hawaii)
custom cam (w/ rockers,springs,lifters) - 1000-1500
trickflow tw 205 - 2000
intake ???? - 500-800
tb,inj,maf - 1000
quarterhorse,wideband - 500
aeromotive fuel system(lines,fittings,sumped tank) - 1700
mild suspension - 1000

All this is already close to 12k

Is this how much a usual 408 costs?

dude I am so stuck right now.

I want to see solid 11s.

But later on if I want to go faster, I'll either need a dart or a 408.

Im just trying to see which route would be cheaper. I'm down for n/a or f.i.

Yep.....shit aint cheap

You can get the custom cam from Woody, and save a little on it, if you buy the short block from him. He uses Bullet, and Cam motion, and they're both good places. unless you're planning on making over 650 bhp or so, have him build it with good I beam, and it will be $400 cheaper.

I have about $800 in my sumped tank, fuel lines, and fittings. I payed $1400 for my heads, with a fox lake stage 2 on them. Things liken the intake, and TB can usually be bought used, and in good shape. Mines a carb, but I bought my Vic Jr for $125.

This is exactly why I detail cars and airplanes, polish aluminum parts, and flight instruct on the side of my real job. It's how I can afford to mod my car...lol

You dont need a 347 shifted at 7000 or a 408 to hit 11s. A simple 302 hci with either juice or a blower will get you what you want. If you think your going to want more. Invest in a dart block stroke it and up the boost.

If your dead set on spinnign to 7k talk to your cam grinder and have him set you up with the proper valve train.

Dude I would totally buy parts used like you, but in Hawaii there is like no one with foxbody mustangs, and if there are, they arent selling parts cheap. lol

And when I try to look on like ebay for used heads and stuff, half of them don't want to ship it overseas.

Yeah I know man. I'm just thinking if I want to go faster later down the road, the only two choices are basically a dart block or 408
