Either way is fine. As long as they're both grounded to the same point. Grounded to separate places can cause a ground loop, but it is rare for that to be an issue. I said absolute best because that's technically the correct way to do it to eliminate any possible issues. If theyre grounded to separate points but they are both good connections chances are you'll be fine, I just don't like giving out advice I know isn't 100%, especially with electical.

I will have to ask my buddy tim about it. he has a 2004 (i think its the year) with full bolt ons. really fun little car, but gets walked super hard by me once I get traction, haha
