ive run an electric oil psi gause, and a mechanical gauge. both worked about the same, and i havent had issues with either one. is it possible for the feed line to break? sure it is, just dont route it incorrectly and it should be fine. worried? check every few months.

just get the 1/8" copper tubing kit for the line. It is a lot cheaper and easier to deal with

Thanks for the reply i already have the steel line so copper is not an option.i was just wondering if there was an area to route it through the firewall rather than through the rubber boot by the steering.

well you will have to buy an adapter to go onto the back of the gauge then since the braided line will not screw on to it. The gauge is pipe thread on the back so you need a NPT to AN adapter

He just wants an answer as to where to route the line! I have a mechanical guage also. I ran mine out of the block up over the intake manifold beside the valve cover on the drivers side. After that I drilled a hole in the firewall directly behind it and ran it straight to the guage. No problems whatsoever!

I disagree with this too. Once the fitting is crimped and verified that it doesn't leak you're not going to have any issues unless you move the line around again. I've been running a mechanical gauge in various cars for many years and never had an issue.

I agree. The only gauges you cant run mechanically and pass NHRA tech is a fuel pressure gauge and nitrous gauge

Wait what? I thought you couldn't run a mechanical fp gauge in the cabin and pass tech.

Ah. I thought so but I didn't know that about the nitrous gauge so I wasn't sure.. I never really thought about it but I guess it makes sense tho about the nitrous gauge. 900psi of NO2 blowing in your face at 100MPH is probably not a good thing if that line pops off.

they have never caught it/said anything, and are VERY strict.

assholes made me run a tube from the burst disc on the bottle out of the car before they would let me run. so I had to go pay $15 at the parts booth for 4 ft of vaccum hose, hose clamped it to the burst disc, and ran the hose out of the drain hole at the bottom of the spare tire hole.
