Exhaust Cutouts
i never knew what this was until started looking at them tonight...would i lose any power with these or gain any?
does anybody have them and likes them? how much louder does it really get? where would be the best place to buy?

your exhaust will be sooooo much louder. It would be like running staight headers. No cat and no mufflers. If your not going to the track i wouldnt bother. You should spend your money some where else. your car is stock right ?

yep completely stock...i was just curious about them, never knew what they were...was looking on qtp website and it shows it just bolting onto the headers...so it doesnt make a difference if i have a catted pipe right?

It by passes every thing but you need to have a Y pipe welded on each side of your mid pipe.

I've used them for years but on turbo cars... On my syclone I picked up 32rwhp on the dyno with the cutout open vs not opened. on a stock 5L it wouldn't help power any but rather prob hurt it

that last video had a y pipe built into it.( it was just hard to see) You will always need a Y pipe. other wise the exhaust would not flow with the cut out closed

its not like i would use them all the time, really just when some dude comes next to me revving his honda, i turn the cutouts on and he'll shit his pants lmao..i love the idea of open headers when you want and regular exhaust when you want...
my really main question is how much welding or cutting would i need to do since i have a catted x pipe?

Hmmmm. you would have to get rid of your first two cats or move them down towards the other two and after that it would be like the first video i posted. But other then sound your not going to gain any thing with your car being stock. Like flyin ryan said on a turbo car you will see some good gains

heres a reply i found on a crown vic website since they have same exhaust as us
"If you do cutouts... do it after the H/X-pipe, before the mufflers to get the loudest sound possible. If you do it before the cats you'll have all sorts of computer tuning problems. Just after the cats, before the crossover pipe and you'll lose a noticeable amount of power. Before mufflers though, that's fine. Just make sure you get hte cutouts put in then 2.5" piping run from there for the loudest sound."

No... you will still have to cut and add a Y pipe weld or clamp. The cut outs have a 3 bolt flange your exhaust is two bolt and its a ball on socket conection. Sorry bro no matter how you do it a Y pipe will have to be added, theres no way of getting around it ,the problem is that you cant really picture how it works, do more research youll get it.
