torque converter question

so i'm about to drop my transmission again to put in a 3000 stall converter in a month or 2 from now. quick question. is putting a torque converter with 3000 stall exactly the same as putting a regular stock torque converter on?

non lockup convertors, dont get nearly as good fuel mileage as a lockup convertor. A lock up convertor actually has a clutch plate in it much like a manual clutch, but smaller. the clutch is only engaged when cruising, not using much throttle. When engaged it convertor is more efficient, giving better mpgs, and less heat.
