AOD shifting problem

Please before anybody says swap it to 5speed i need real help.I pulled outta my driveway and it wouldnt shift into 2nd or 3rd.So i pulled right over and check my fluid, and it read that it was overfilled? Before this happened i was hearing a whining sound coming from the tranny like it was running low.So i put a QT in it,and BAM it starts shifting fine???Also my check engine light came on??I also cant get a proper reading on trans stick?

It is the SAME problem I was having last week. I had to pull the valve body out and I had 2 valves that were worn and sticking.

My problem started with NO overdrive, the it would not shift out of 3rd. Then when cold would not come out of 1st unless i let off throttle. After it warmed up all was fine except still no OD.

The OD valve had worn into the sleeve it sits in. Both are replaceable. The 1st gear valve was gummed up. I just ordered a whole new valve body. Not to hard to install while the trans is still in the vehicle.

Yeah after it warms up itll shift, but not at the right shift points, and it felt like OD was slipping.Im gonna change the fluid tomorrow and try to clean it up and check if anythings gummed up.Also this shit just started all of a sudden the other day with no warning.

Yep it was the same for me. Started after I floored it one day and shut it off. The next day it had the issues. Doubt a fluid change will help, if you look on youtube you can find a video of a guy explaining how to remove and install a valve body on a ford aod. Its really not that hard with the trans in the car. You just have to make sure you hook the linkage back up.

Reason i doubt the fluid change will help is because if a filter is dirty.. its dirty hot or cold. Your probably just wasting money on more fluid. Im willing to bet the valve is trashed like mine was.
