89 gt clutch question


Is there any way to tell how many splines my clutch has with out pulling the trans out???

with out seperating it.. no. why do you need to know how many splines your clutch has? jc

Cuz My clutch is slipping at high rpms in 5th gear so I'm gunn a have to change the clutch I think and there are two different splines for that year

i could be wrong but i believe there all ten spline... only way i could see it being any different is u had a different trans other then a t-5

All the books show it could be a 10 or a 26

Unless someone replaced the stock parts, the spline number is 10.

Before you get the clutch check if there is oil in the bellhousing, happened to me

I'm doin a clutch right now in mine, its a 1990, and its a ten spline. Andd... there is oil in my effin bellhousing.. rear seal leak maybe?

either that or the oil pan gasket. when my clutch went out i replaced it along with the flywheel, pilot bearing, and rear main seal. some months later it started slipping in high gears at higher rpms. my oil pan gasket was letting oil into the bellhousing. good thing i took it off first before buying a new clutch

i would find out where its leaking from, cause its hard to change the oil pan gasket. its common on these cars for the rear main seal to leak

75% of foxes have a leaky oil pan gasket. Youre gona change it and its still gona leak

Also good to know. Thanks man. I'm thinkin just use some silicone or somethin and gum some in there in a few spots.
