Hey guys for the 351 I might need new pistons. Is there anyway possible that I will be okay without balancing the pistons? There is no machine shop that balances assemblies on my island.

I will only be boring the block out enough to clean it (the ridge formed at the top of the cylinder I believe). The most minimum bore for cleaning. Can I just use new pistons no balance? Please. I will not rev it past 7k. What will be my rev limit with unbalanced pistons?

lol, you will be fine man. most pistons/rods and stuff come REALLY close to balanced as long as you don't buy cheap shit.

I would recommend probe for the pistons.

haha, no, this isn't the 80's or something. if you where to buy a CHEAP brand of pistons, yea, I would be sweating it a bit. But probe makes good shit.

P2482F - Ford 302/393W -4.0cc Flat Top FPS Pistons

these for a N/A motor, with 4.030 bore would be perfect for what you are doing.

And with those pistons you listed I would be at a 393?

Or is that only for the first one (393)

And the second set is for a 357?

its to my understanding that its ether the rods, or pistons that are the weak link in a oem 351w combo. ill do some googling and see what I can find.

seems the rods are fine.

finding people making 500rwhp using them, and some other crazy SOB's saying you can spin them up to 7500 rpm with ARP bolts.

If you are going to reuse the rods, because of the high mileage, I would have the rods checked for roundness in the bearing area. forget what its called.

right!

the shop can check and fix all the rods, but make sure you use ARP bolts. there not cheap, but it will make a big difference in how long the motor lasts.

Dam boys I haven't been on here for a couple days but my plans for a beastly motor have gone to dust.

My budget has dropped after having to loan some money out to my family.

Now Ive got about a total of 6000 dollars to spare. We pull out our engines tomarrow and I guess I'm going to save the 351 plans for later down the road.

I am planning on just doing a 302 h/c/i so now imma go start a build thread w/ some pics.

I'd appreciate it if you guys can come help me out during the build. Thanks
