Couple of intake questions
I'm looking to pick up a new intake, so far its a toss up between the cobra intake and the typhoon intake. I've used the typhoon before, but not the cobra. Does any one have any suggestions? I'm just looking for a cheap temp intake until I can order the trick flow top end kit. I have an explorer intake on it now. But it's a non egr intake.

Also what size is the throttle body opening on the cobra intake?

TB opening on a cobra is 70MM. There's some guys on here that have used the typhoon that can give their opinion. I've only seen pictures of the casting flash and people talking about how it's a crap shoot if you get one that needs a lot of clean up or one that's in decent shape.

cobra and the explorer are almost the same intake. They are a cast version of the tubular gt40 intake. I think you should stick with the intake you have untill you get the trick flow top end kit

the problem with the intake i have now, is with it being a non egr intake the throttle body mounting pad is cut different on the bottom, and it leaves two holes in the egr spacer. I'm finding all these problems now that i've started working on it

Got a pic of the holes? Maybe we can figure out a solution. I've used jb weld on EGR ports in the past.

It's easy as hell to pull the upper off to take pics. Shouldn't take you more than 10-15 minutes at the very most to have the upper completely off.. plus it's good practice, hah.
You can drill and tap the runner for the ACT sensor pretty easily too. I forget the thread pitch and size, but if you plan on actually doing it I can easily find them. |

and just plug the act sensor in and leave it laying by the injectors. Tapping the intakes not worth the work, car will run the same either way

I recently saw a diagram showing the egr valve and fpr having different vacuam sources, and the map sensor having a manifold vacuam. My egr valve and fpr are sharing a vacuam line coming off the driver side firewall tree. Is that ok? also theres no vacuam line hooked up to the map sensor, Would that cause it to run rich?

There is a tubular gt40 intake on ebay for $500, is it worth it?

It flows identical to the intake you have now. Unless you're buying it for looks, it's not worth a penny over what you've got.
