Brakes

I was driving my car yesterday and my brake pedal felt hard like a rock when I pressed it for the second or third time. Then when I keep driving it gets soft again. Until I press it two or three times. My brakes pads are fine. What could it be?

sounds like you have a small leak somewhere or you are low on fluid.

No the fluid seems fine but I'll check the lines. Can it also be that the brake fluid is too old?

+1, if the brakes get rock hard then it's either the booster going bad, or it's the booster not getting enough vacuum. Check the vacuum line for cracks and if it looks good it could be your booster on it's way out.

I could upgrade my booster and master cylinder for rear disk brakes if it's going bad.

Does it do that cycle of getting tough to press and then back to normal every time? If it's doing that on a pretty consistent basis, it might be the check valve on the booster. No idea if the one on a fox is accessable or not, but it's worth checking first. It should be right on the booster where the vacuum line plugs in. I'm not in the same state as my car right now or I would go check first so I don't know if this is even a valid thing to check.
