Tight clutch!

Hey i just got my first 94 gt and i love it but the clutch is ridiculous stiff. I asked my dad about it and he said the guy he bought it from said that it was because it was a racing clutch?? i forgot what kind it was (oops) but it doesnt make sense its that stiff, i have to drive my foot down on that sucker. any thoughts?

Well I know that with anything concerning control / feel, stiffer is always better. ( suspension / steering / shifting) So maybe that's the case? Another possibility would be that perhaps its that way because its a super heavy duty clutch that can sustain power shifting? Just stabbing in the dark here. Also worth noting is that the softer the clutch (eg hydraulic clutch) the more time it takes to disengage when you push it down. In that logic, perhaps the stiffer it is the faster the clutch disengages

check your motor and trans mounts. mine was crazy stiff when i got my car. i soon discovered my motor mounts were shot and my trans mount was broken. my whole drivetrain leaned to the passanger side. after replacing them my clutch is still tight, but nothing like it was.

Cool

Just drive the car around as much as possible and in traffic whenever possible and build those clutch depressing muscles up.

My old clutch was a little stiffer than normal stock but it was a stage 3 racing clutch with pucks. Now my newer stang is like a feather to push the clutch in and it is a ram heavy duty clutch kit. My brothers v6 sn 95 is like a brick, but something is deff off. I'm guessing the throw out bearing needs adjusting or something along the lines of that. But it deff shouldn't be like trying to move a brick house with your foot... and thats what the sn is like.

adjust the clutch properly and it'll require less force to depress.
