Thats controlled by the governor on the trans or the Ecm. A tune, chip or engine management system could change that. If you make it shift to high before you install the shift kit you could burn up the clutches. I really would think about putting in a C4 or a heavy duty AOD like a streetfighter. The AOD as it comes from ford is the worst transmission ever designed and is very weak. I had less then 300 hp at the crank in my convertible mustang and if I floored the car in OD after about 65 the band would slip. You could stay in D but then you need to have a engine that can handle the rpms you would be making at higher speeds.

Ok, I found a new cam I'm goin with.. Its the Comp 35-255-5. It's a 351W cam

Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift 210
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift 214
Duration at 050 inch Lift 210 int./214 exh.
Advertised Intake Duration 254
Advertised Exhaust Duration 258
Advertised Duration 254 int./258 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.478 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.485 in.
Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.478 int./0.485 exh.
Lobe Separation (degrees) 114

Oh, can you get a different governor for the trans? I would like it to shift at about 5,000 rpms.

I plan on having the AOD rebuilt..and I'm putting a shirt kit in it, and a constant press. valve body.
