Experienced NOS users opinions needed.

I am looking for a nitrous setup for my car. I am looking for an entry level system adjustable from say 100-200. I need a plate kit for a carb and would like to set it up with a seperate fuel system up front. I was looking at some of the basic kits around 300 or so. Here are my questions.

What is the benefit of using more expensive kits?
What is the safest setup?
Will the system shut off will the system shut off between shifts with the WOT switch? (I will not be powershifting)
Without a Timer, controller or something similar will it just activate off of the wot switch.

please excuse my lack of knowledge, I am trying to edjucate myself.

Any and all input will be appreciated!!!

I know some of you use Nitrous! I would just appreciate a little input to help me select the best Nitrous system for my needs. Thanks.

Shizz just got real....

thats what a stand-a-lone fuel system looks like and is made up of.

to me, NX makes the best kits. quality is very high, and customer service is great. they makes kits for all kinds of carb set ups, and the carb set ups are actually way cheaper then fuel injection.

as for your questions.

What is the benefit of using more expensive kits?

that is a little vague of a question don't you think?

What is the safest setup?

Matter of opinion really. you can add every safety piece of technology there is, and still melt pistons.

Will the system shut off will the system shut off between shifts with the WOT switch? (I will not be powershifting)

think about it..... if your not power shifting, you get out of the throttle to shift..... thus not engaging the WOT switch, which disarms/cuts off the system.

Without a Timer, controller or something similar will it just activate off of the wot switch.

you will have a safety switch to "ARM" the nitrous. with the switch on, and the WOT throttle activated by the throttle being to the floorboards, the solenoids open up, and go to work. with the ARM switch OFF, the WOT switch cannot complete its circuit, and the nitrous system doesn't work.

hope this helped you out.

Ok, too vague... I am sorry. Yes, I am thankfull you answered.

I guess my problem is I want to make sure I buy a kit that will not require me to buy a bunch of other stuff that another/better kit would have included.

I was not sure if the WOT switch was just as easy as on and off or if the circuit reset after it was opened as some sort of safety. So If I use the WOT as a safety in conjunction with a rpm trigger It should work just fine. (I guess I should run a fuel pressure saftey switch also)

My fuel system is a 5 gal cell with a holley blue elec pump, braided lines, holley regulator. I was thinking I could use a smaller cell up front with another holley blue setup just for the nitrous.

So I am looking at something in this price range.
Nitrous Express (NX) 40040-10 - Nitrous Express Hitman Nitrous Systems - Overview - SummitRacing.com 440.00
MSD Ignition 8950 - MSD RPM Activated Switches - Overview - SummitRacing.com 90.00
Holley 12-802-1 - Holley Blue Electric Fuel Pumps - Overview - SummitRacing.com 132.00
Summit Racing SUM-290122 - Summit Racing® Nitrous Enrichment Fuel Cells - Overview - SummitRacing.com 116.00
Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) 15660NOS - NOS Fuel Pressure Safety Switches - Overview - SummitRacing.com 43.00
Edelbrock 72287 - Edelbrock Bolt-On Solenoid Brackets - Overview - SummitRacing.com 37.00
Auto Meter 3411 - Auto Meter Sport-Comp Analog Gauges - Overview - SummitRacing.com 50.00
Auto Meter 3428 - Auto Meter Sport-Comp Analog Gauges - Overview - SummitRacing.com 83.00
991.00

Should this cover it? I have braided fuel lines and fittings.

the only thing I don't agree with is the bracket. $37 seems like a lot when you can get some $5 steel down at home depot and make your own.

the RPM switch im not sure if it will work. not positive to wont ether though

I don't run a window switch, a low fuel pressure switch, or any of that stuff at the moment. I plan on it eventually, but right now im not that worried about it.

I have the same window switch. I paid 27 bucks shipped new off ebay. I'd search for an accessory kit. Comes with bottle heater, fuel pressure safety switch, blow down tube, ext. I picked mine up for 200 bucks. I just looked on ebay, nothing stuck out at the moment, but if you have time to search, you can save some serious bucks!

I plan on shopping around for this stuff. I do have credit at Summit so some of it will come from them.
