I had a similar problem on my fox, pulled the panels to inspect switch connections. Everything looked good so i used some dielectric (sp?) grease on the plugs/switches and haven't had an issue since.

You also have to think that just because the motor may work with no load doesn't mean that the motor is strong enough with a load.

May not be your issue just my .02 cents.

I've had three Ford cars with the same type of motor not work and when I took the motor out and looked at it, it started working again. Must be dead spot on the rotor, brushes were a little corroded, bad connection or some combination of those.

thanks for all the info, it was weird, i took it to two of my buddies shops were one specializes in full restoration of muscle and hot rods.. he couldnt figure it out. so i basically said whatever and put the door panel back on and bam it works! i dont know its weird but it is something with the ground. because they hooked up a tester and it was giving a weird reading from the ground but we couldnt figure it out. oh well it works now so im happy
