93 mustang!!!!!acting funny on startup


everytime i start my car it wont stay on unless i give it a little bit of gas but after it turns on for atleast 2 minutes on the next startup its normal i dont have to give it gas what could this be

most likely bad iac. I have the same problem. But after about 20 sec she all good.

since the iac cost 59 bucks and checking for vacuum leaks is free how can i check for vacuum leaks

for some reason on my new one the sensor is facing up did they give me the wrong one

Do the base idle reset procedure in this thread and see if that takes care of your high idle. These computers have an adaptive learning strategy so when you make changes, they need to "learn" them. Normal driving for a while will also cause them to learn, but if you do a reset, it will move the process along faster. Having that connector facing the other way won't hurt anything, as long as they gave you the right part that's been cross referenced. That look like the right part, the company just bolts on the actuator different.. or the guy on the line didn't give a shit that day.

Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, whatever gets the gunk off and evaporates. Clean it, give it a try and if it works, just return the new one. Most parts stores are pretty good about that.

yea.

clean the old one and throw it on.


I lay mine with the hole facing up, fill it with carb cleaner, let it set 10-20min, then flush it out, then hit it with the air compressor.

never had an issue with mine. probably still the original one.
