Because they last long and look great for ever.....I hate how painted headers flake and get rusty, and chrome headers turn blue and look tarnished, Which if i had to choose would be my second choice (chrome)
I have nothing else to compare it to....I know that ceramics lower the temp in the engine bay but im not sure you will notice any real big difference in performance between chrome and ceramics.......so if your going to get ceramics then id base it more off them looking great and lasting a long time...To me there worth the extra money

Both. The ceramic coating helps keep the heat in and underhood temp down. Keeping the heat in helps with scavanging. And the ceramic coating will not change within 10 minutes of running the car like chrome ones. They'll look like ass within a day, unless you are running fat.

Ceramic FTW! I have Stainless Ceramic coated (inside and out) LT headers on my TA. They look awesome all the time and will outlast mild steel headers.

I also wouldn't go with ball and socket headers, especially if you're going to spend the money on ceramics. The most important part of a header is it's collector design and with a ball and socket type header, you have a restriction at the end of your collector that pretty much defeats the purpose. Get a flange joint or slip fit style header. It may not be a huge difference now if you're not running a cam with a lot of overlap, but when you get the right cam, it'll make a difference with scavenging. |
