Alternator mounting question

Just a quick question. I have a 302 in my stang It has a mezier ewp.
I do not have any of the stock acc brakets as my car was just a roller when I bought it. I was thinking of how to mount my alternator and was thinking I could hang the alternator off the bottom of a stock brack, cut off what is not needed at the top and use a turnbuckle for tension. Does anyone know if it will clear/work at all. The alt is the only thing that will be running off of the crank.

Any input is appreciated. thanks for reading.

Aaron on Hardcore5.0 makes brackets for alternators and electric wp's. I believe he's on corral too, but I don't know his screenname over there. He charges $100 last time i checked.

I tried hacking up the factory bracket on mine because I have the same set-up. The crank drives the alternator only. It works, but it looked like shit.

The second pic is a homemade one. he bolted it to the head with a spacer and used flat steel as a brace. On the bottom he used a factory style slide adjustor. Not the best looking but it is functional.

Still looking for a one wire alternator that will keep things charged.

I have an electric WP, dual electric 2 speed fans, electric fuel pump (will eventually be two once I add the nitrous fuel system), Ign box, coil, Basic headlights, tails, parking, ect.

Am I going to need a massive alt? Or will a 65-75 amp work? What are your thoughts.

I don't have any experience with electric waterpumps or dual fuel pump setups but I do know the stock 65 amp alts with stock pullies can't handle most electric fans unless its an aftermarket that pulls low amps and flows shit for cfm so i'd say you'd need to upgrade to a 3g at least.. Skip the 95 amp and just hit the 130 and be done with it.

I am thinking of just ordering this.

Tuff Stuff Performance 7068RF6G - Tuff Stuff One-Wire Alternators - Overview - SummitRacing.com

The car will see some street use, but very limited.
(I may put around 1500 a year on my TA, so this one should see a less than 100)

I agree. I wouldn't go less than a 130A either. You have to remember, all alternator ratings aren't at idle so you're not always charging at the advertised amperage. Different for each alt, but you have to be at a certain RPM to reach peak charging anyway. Depending on the alt, you could be as low as half the rating at idle.
