bot cars going to shop
on my 07 i've had some electrical grimlins since installing the eforce last year. i got out of the army in december & being jobless for a few months kept me from doing anything with it, but i was offered a civilian contractor job in Afgan so I'll be gone (again) for the next year. both my 07 & 86 will be getting some much needed work done.
i will be taking my 07 to a shop to figure out what the hell is wrong with it and to get a couple minor things finished up. i will almost definitely get an exhaust in the form of Mac lt's & unk. midpipe. there's a slight chance i'll get a 6060 trans, but doubt it. for my 86 LX i'll be returning it to it's 4 eye'd glory (i rear ended someone last year and had put on the 87+ front bumper & hood). it will also get both new door skins & a little cancer spot fixed behind the drivers rear tire. i'm pretty set on a 2" cowl for the hood option. for the paint it will be basically the opposite of my 07 (alloy metallic w/ the top of the ram air being black with a red metallic). the main color of the 86 will be the crimson black (see a 2010 nissan maxima) & the top of the cowl will be the alloy metallic. it will also get an upgraded suspension & mild interior. the question: what are the suggestions for a 2" cowl for my 86. i have a cervini's on the 07, but trying to keep some of the weight off of it. is there a carbon fiber option for the foxes. i can't seem to find one. if no c/f then other than cervini's what are the options for a good quality hood. also being new to the fox modding, what are the best things to do to them suspension wise. this thing is stock down to the smog pump & air box |

Albumhttp://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...-86-stang.html
Hopefully this image posts, I'm not sure if I can link from Facebook, but if it does this is what my cowel looks like. I think it's the perfect height, not big enough and not worthlessly small, I also have a 3 gauge cluster in the front of the cowel, and it's a fiberglass hood. Hmm, I'll figure out where I can link a picture from real quick... Maybe that link to my album will work, let me know if it doesn't, sorry, never posted a picture on here before. Copy and save the pic to your computer, then upload to photobucket or imageshack, then copy the image code and paste it here.

lol, that's mah baby, it's pretty dirty now, but the snow is clearin up so I gotta wash her up pretty quick. Its a stock 302, underdrive pulleys, bbk shorty headers, h-pipe exhaust, flowmasters, AOD tranny, A/C Deleted. The best part is that it was supposedly an ex-police intercepter which is halfway believable because it has a 140mph speedo, but I couldn't say for sure. And yes I'm in SD, gotta love drivin' in the winter time -_-

Oh no... you have to drive that thing all year? Keep 'er clean or she'll be a Rustang...
TO THE OP: As far as suspension goes, what are your intentions with the car? Street, strip, both, cruiser?

it's going to be a bit of both. will be my DD, but my wife will do some 1/4 & a bit of autocrossing once or twice a year. not looking for extreme just a decent comfort that won't let the frame twist too much

Subframe connectors are a must! Torque box reinforcement is a must if running slicks. I have Maximum Motorsports Subframes, and will be ordering UPR or Wild rides (probably) torque box reinforcements this spring when I get my car out. Autocross and drag racing are two different suspensions, but to find a good mix of the two, I would do non adjustable lowers, and maybe and adjustable uppers with sperical axle bushings. Stay away from lowering springs as they can hurt you at the strip, and use a 10 way adjustable shock and strut. If your pocket book is fat, then move up to the front and do a full tubular k member and a arm swap with coilovers. There are suspension specific stuff that will do better at one job than another, but if you stick with basic stuff, you should do pretty good overall.

the money available for the suspension will completely depend on how much body & paint is going to cost. i'm looking at probably 5-6k for everything.

Hope your paint/body guy is cheap. Average repaint including jambing the car and engine compartment will run you 5-6k alone.
