Just picked up a 351

Not sure when this build is going to take place, mainly because I haven't even had my current setup tuned yet and want to get a feel for the track first. That and work is slow as shit right now, so there's no extra money coming in... damn daycare, lol. And I'll have to spend money on swap parts, and my car still is lacking in areas. It's out of an 81 lincoln, and the guy seemed to know what he was talking about with 351's cuz he was talking about the rods in this motor. This was after I told him I eventually want to build a stroker, but just want to run it as is for now. He was saying that the rods are stronger for one reason or another. Truth? I'm still going to base everything off of a 700hp crank max limit, so it don't really matter, but I'm sure I'll spray the motor as a stock displacement when it's in my car since it will likely get different (cheap) pistons from the get go if they are low compression. Any comments and suggestions welcome. I paid 200 bucks for it, gauranteed to run, or refund.

Nice..

Long block or short block ?

Your going to through your 185s on there right ?

So whats up with the intake, will you need a new lower? forgive my lack of knowlege on 351, cuz i know even less about them lol

Do you know what your compression is going to be as is now with the 185s on there ?

Complete motor, but I told the guy that he can pull the heads and intake off it if he wants them. He has other 351 powered stuff. Just showed up on Craigslist and was only about 10 minutes from my house, so I went to look at it and gave him a check for it. Told him I'd pick it up on saturday. 185's will go on, yes. Gonna start watching for a TF box upper/lower. Would settle for an R if the price is too good to pass up. Still have to research what's in it stock. Don't want to tear it down any further than a shortblock if I don't have to. Has the correct pan on it for a Mustang though, or at least it appears to be, so that's one less part to buy.

Nope, this one is same price. We are waiting for mutual friend of ours to have an opening. She's only 105 a week. Our daycare went up to 125 just after we signed up, but she said she would keep ours at 120... but for how long is what I wonder. The daycare centers around here are 160 and up a week. And we don't even make california wages out here.

I wish. Have to buy all sorts of shit yet. When it does go in my car someday, it'll just get the Stage II cam I have already. No point going custom for stock displacement. And can't be sprayed till I find a plate for a box upper. Not going to buy one outright until I have to. They're spendy plates. Plus I just bought my damn ceramic headers last fall. I need to try them out more than I did before getting raped selling them off.
