TFS cam question!!!
Hey guys, I just wanted to know whether I needed to upgrade the MAF/injectors if I went to the TFS stage 1 cam? I read somewhere else that it was recommended? Any experience or answers would be greatly appreciated!

none yet, but I have TFS 170 twisted wedges, Cobra upper/lower intake, x-pipe exhaust, and accufab 65mm TB. Wanted to change heads/cam/intake all together. Nothing different with the fuel system tho.

You are probably going to need some 24Lbs injectors(minimum) with matching mass air and a 255lph fuel pump would also be advised along with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Well, I guess I won't be starting this next weekend after all! I didn't realize I would need to upgrade the fuel system right away also. I figured I'd at least be able to do the h/c/i and run it for a little while until I built the ole' budget back up!

You should be able to buy all that stuff used for about $300.

I think you should get a 70mm+ mass air meter or bigger calibrated to 24lb, 24lb injectors, Some say that you can reuse your old roller Lifters but i have read that new ones should be installed do to the fact that they develope a wear patteren to what ever cam it was used on. (so im not sure what you should do there.) But youll need to check pistion to valve clearance and all check push rod length. My point is to keep a little extra money for some unfore seen cost. I also think you should upgrade your fuel pump to a 255lph. Sorry In my post i talked about roller rockers, i meant roller lifters so my post has been edited and fixed.

ya, I just depleted my budget buying the cam/lifters. Its only gonna be a couple weeks, but I'll have the funding again soon. That itch is just getting real hard to scratch with those parts sittin' in the garage! on another note, what all will I need for the cam install? never done one before.

One of my buddies used the stage 1 in his cobra and didn't have to upgrade anything and he made 270 hp and 300 ft/lb to the ground. He does have the gt 40 top end and 1.7 roller rockers but that's standard in 94 cobra. For the swap u will need just your upper and lower intake gaskets valve cover gaskets and timing chain gaskets. Its fairly simple to do if u have ever done anything on a motor. I just done my first swap and it was simple

your goin to need a set of valve springs to match the cam, timing cover gasket set, and a new timing chain. also intake manifold gaskets and such. you should also buy new lifters, as the new cam will beat the crap out of them.
you SHOULD invest in a cam degree wheel and maybe an instruction video, but no one ever does that shit. I started my car with 19lb injectors, and it ran fine. but I had 24lb injectors and a maf ready to go, just wanted to start up with 19lb injectors because I was parinoid there would be issues. anyway, I got my injectors on eBay, rebuilt, for cheap. cant remember the price, but I think it was $65 plus shipping. my maf is a 75mm Pro-m.

Yea, I'd go with new lifters and springs definitely. Cams do create a wear pattern and IMO if you're gonna get that deep into the motor you might as well replace what ever you can while it's apart.

Yeah I was just commenting the power he could expect with that combo. I agree with everyone in here on replacing lifters timing set injectors upgrade maf. By doing so it will insure that there could be less stuff that goes wrong after u get back together

This is exactly what I did, I had the TFS51400004 heads and the TFS stage II cam with the cobra and did a 13.2 area at 104 then I swapped out the intake mani to the tfs race and gain 5 mph in the 1/4 and 13.1 time. This is through my tired ass aode with 180+K on it... Get the race intake braaa!
