Supercharger/ Turbo????

Im broke.. i think that speaks for all of us though.. and I'm running a mid 13s car.. not exactly what i bought a mustang for.. I own a nitrous kit, but i don't want to get pulled over with that... so.. that leaves me with the conclusion to buy a VERY inexpensive turbo or supercharger kit. I'd need the entire kit and i need it to come with oil lines and exhaust manifolds.. complete kit.. SO does anyone know of a kit i could get used for damnnnn cheap?

Good luck the best way is to find one that needs rebuilt. I found a supercharger for 100 bucks that had everything but needs an impeller shaft because the threds got sheared off and I still have to fix that but its hard to find a deal like that

How cheap is Dammm cheap? on3 performance sells cheap good kits from what i hear.

But truth be told if your broke you should not be spending money on your car unless it is broken. save up your money so you wont be broke!

ha well thanks for the advice but i want her to be boosted before i move out so that i wont have to do it later when i really am dead broke... but i can probably muster 4 to 500 bucks for the full kit. that's why i want a used one.. but i dont really wanna rebuild one cuz thats the route i took buying my car in the first place and you never know the outcome..

Well good luck with that then. Best bet would be to go with a blower then, Less parts to deal with.

Don't think you are going to find a decent kit for $4-500. With boost you will need a upgraded fuel system to handle the boost(fuel pump, injectors, matching mass air, etc). And a tuner would also be handy. Ya better keep saving!

well i'd like to install this nitrous kit i've got so people don't even know i'm boosted really, but i'm worried about getting caught with it.. and is a supercharger that much easier to deal with?? i could get more.. i mean i've got a whole 302 with a b cam, cobra rollerrockers, and other small upgrades and gt40 intake set, plus edelbrock brand new z89 carborator intake.. a mishimoto radiator with an easy to fix pinhole leak, 230 amp alternator powersteering and rest of pulleys.. plus the mixmatched nitrous kit with 10 lb bottle... i've got some things i'd trade for a kit or sell to buy the boost... if nitrous was only legal

Dude.. look at spending about 5 grand if you want a proper turbo or supercharger set up. Save your cash. Cheap shit will only ruin what you currently have.

Odds are it is not legal to use it on the street of have it hooked up on the street.

Pull a vin and hid it in the passengers seat. you may want a smaller bottle. lol

Do you get pulled over so often that you are worried about the police finding it? You seem a bit paranoid about the nitrous.

I've had nitrous on many cars, and never had any problems. If you do it right, they'd have to do a thorough search to find it anyways. If I remember correctly, it's not illegal to have in your car anyways. It's only illegal to use it.

yeah i'm a bit paranoid.. never been pulled over, in the mustang, no.. but I can't risk getting my license suspended or paying a fine over 100 bucks... and now i'm looking to trade my 10lb bottle for a sneaky pete bottle or two... they won't search my car THAT thoroughly.. but i've been searched for drugs before at midnight in a parking lot and they looked all through the car but never pulled seats down or checked in donut well.. so yeah you can see where i'm going with this

LOOK. stop this bullshit.

nitrous is illegal technicly. But I have spoken with a few cops, and as long as the bottle is unhooked, they can't do anything. and even then, they don't know shit about cars!!!!

I keep the bottle in my damn car, just unhooked. If im going to use it on the street, I hook the bottle up. if a cop pulls me over and somehow reolizes the car has nitrous, they can't do jack shit to prove if its hooked up, or that its even nitrous stuff. Tell them its propane, and it helps you get 50mpg.

its there word against yours, and they are not a mechanic, they are a cop.............

that being said, you should not run a turbo, OR nitrous on your car.

if you only can muster up $500, and you can't afford even a $100 ticket, how are you going to afford filling the bottle for $40 a pop?

or what if you have a back fire, like I did when I first started using nitrous, and you blow all the intake manifold gaskets, have to have your car towed home, then the car has to sit while you get parts, and figure out what all is wrong with the car.

sounds like your a young kid by your "when I move out" comment, if you don't have the money you should be very happy with what you got, its probably a shit load better then other kids in your situation.

Inexpensive and turbo is a bad combo man. Don't do it. Hell I had a $5000 Hellion kit and there were issues to solve. Never go FI on a tight ass budget and with a turbo kit there's a lot more involved than the turbo oil line and manifolds, and piping. You're looking at tuning, k member, fuel system, exhaust, rear end, etc etc...FI stuff can be pricey, trust me I've owned blown and turbo cars and neither are cheap.
