Top end rebuild
if i rebuilt my top end with a trick flow set up, like the twisted wedge and all that would it be to much for the stock bottom end?

well i don't know to much iam new on here but what i would say is no but it depends on how many miles are on the motor they say the stock block can hold 500hp so if everything is good than yea i would do a leak down test or even just a compression test should let u know if it will hold or not

I think the stock bottom end will hold up to 400hp but I think around 300hp is when murphy stops in to say hi. thats where you will start finding the weak links in the drivetrain (the tranny, drive shaft and if youre still running the 7.5in rear-end (crap) If you build it... build it right and save a lot of time, money and big headaches.
imagine you install that nice top end kit and hav the pistons smack the heads. if its worth doing its worth doing right.

i have and 89 GT w/the stock bottom. it has the trick flow kit twisted wedge street heat and it holds it just fine. i a little disapointed though. it only pushes about 275rwhp. my brother has a 94GT w/the same set up and nos and pushes about 330rwhp w/the shot. a friend of mine has a 95GT w/the track heat set up and it pushes 300rwhp. the bottom seems to hold up but i am not happy the hp out come

why do you think that it doesnt work?.....do you think maybe the gt 40s and a little step up on the intakes would be just as good but at a cheaper price?.....cause i have a blown head gasket and since im taking it apart i figured it might as well bump up the hp while im down there

Ive been told that after market heads improve over stock but they work better with a higher compression ratio of 9.5 to 1 or higher . and your only at 9 to 1
