The recomended setting is 997-999 the best is 998 you may need to elongate the holes to allow for the extra movement to get to 998

Yeah take a small rat tail file or a Dremel and elongate the holes so you can acheive .94-1.05 volts. Thats what works for me but I dont know the actual spec....

Be sure to ground the voltage meter to the TPS ground and not the engine otherwise you'll get a diffrent reading

+1 from jbigbootsy. you have to read between the signal and return wires to get the correct reading

yeh that how i read it, what does elongate mean??
and its a new bbk throttle body, should i put my old one on it and see how that works or if tht'll fix it, kus it never gave me a problem, but then again i never checked it, maybe i'll swap them and see how that works. because the car idle fine before i changed that.

Well you know how the holes are round? Use a small round file to make them a little oval so you can move it a little more.. Do me a favor just look up what the word elongate means so you are clear on what it exactly means before you do it...

sometimes it'll work jus fine, but then if i cut it off then the idle will be erratic it'll keep jumping up and down from 600 rpm to 200 and then jump rite bace up and keep doin it until it cuts off.

To test and adjust the TPS.

With ignition ON, engine OFF, and the TPS plugged in
1) You will need to pierce the wires with the test leads.
Measure voltage between sensor VREF (Orange wire) and SIG RTN (black wire). Voltage should be between 4.0-6.0V, if so, the correct power is getting to the sensor.
2) Measure voltage between sensor SIG RTN (black wire) and TP (green wire). Adjust the position of the TPS to achieve 0.90-0.99 volts with the throttle fully closed. After adjusting the postion of the TPS as required to get that voltage, move the throttle from closed to open and the voltage should move smoothly with the movement of the throttle plate to greater then 3.5 volts.
