MSD Street Fire wires

Anyone have any experience with these?

They say that they've got "multi-angle" spark plug boots. What the hell does that mean? The picture shows a straight boot, but it claims to be multi-angle. Do you just bend the boot to where you want, or does it come with a bunch of different boots and you cut and crimp them yourself? I've been trying to figure this out for the last hour, and keep finding different answers in all sorts of places. Here are the ones I'm looking at.

MSD Ignition 5544 - MSD Street Fire Spark Plug Wire Sets - Overview - SummitRacing.com - specifically for 5.0 Mustangs

MSD Ignition 5541 - MSD Street Fire Spark Plug Wire Sets - Overview - SummitRacing.com - for small block Fords

MSD Ignition 5552 - MSD Street Fire Spark Plug Wire Sets - Overview - SummitRacing.com - a "universal" set using 90 degree boots.

I'm putting P heads on my car and don't wanna mess with any clearance issues, plus I needed new wires anyway. I kinda wanted the cut to length ones that come with a bunch of different boots so I can use the 90 degrees for the cylinders that need them and 45s or straights for the ones that don't. I'm pretty confused on which is which and how they work though, so I found that "universal" set with all 8 90 degree boots. However, I'm not real sure how universal "universal" actually is and don't wanna have wires that are too long or too short. All the contradicting answers I'm finding is getting irritating , so if someone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot everyone.

Can't help to much, but the universal wires aren't finished. You cut and clamp spark plug end yourself.

I've used the MSD wires before that you cut to length & clamp the sparkplug end on, I really liked them at 1st, they looked & fit great but they didn't last very long, my car started missing & after checking a few things it ended up being about 2 or 3 of the wires went bad. The ends were still perfectly in tact. I was using a MSD coil, dizzy & ignition box. After that I had heard about others having problems with the MSD wires.

Are you saying my "Super, Inducto, Turbo, Mega-watt, Power all for long time-o-thon Wires" are a hoax. Damn I just got them in from Taiwan and shipping was EXPENSIVE...maybe the guy nextdoor with the honda will buy them.

OK. Thanks everyone. Thats just the info I needed to know. I'm not crazy about the wires either, hearing good and bad things about them, but they're the cheapest decent looking ones I've found with the right boots. They'll get me by for awhile until I've got some more money to spend. Thanks again.

so i just bought ford racing 9mm wires, had to replace the MSD ones, one of the boost caught on fire LOL, i like the Ford racing cuz the boot around the spark plug has an angle on it, it fits in between the pipes better,

my MSD has long straight connectors...

i got them at o'rilys, and was glad i did, because i also got the streetfire coil and new msd cap&bug with the nice top plate that holds the wires down. problem was that with the ford wire kit the boots for the distributor side do not have the little nubs for the top plate to lock in. i was kinda pissed about it. i went back up to the store and the dude was real cool about it. i buy a lot of parts their. he let me swap the hardware bag with the gm hei set they had on the shelf. it had the boots that the top cap would fit into. so be forewarned that if you plan on using a new msd cap with the nice looking wire hold down, that the ford wire set will not work.

Firecore 50 wires are the best money you'll spend.
