What do foxes weight?


I can't find any numbers. What does a stock 89 gt hatchback weight?

How much lighter are the LX's and what are some of you race guys have your cars down to?

There is only about 50 lbs difference because the lx only lacks fog lights, ground affects, has different wheels(stock), different tail lights and maybe a few other trim peices. You can get the weight down a lot if you just want a one seater or two seater racer. After market K-member, Drag-Lite wheels, a/c/smog pump delete, rear seat delete, drive shaft, fly wheel, passenger seat delete(?), and a host of other comfort creature deletes. Here is a post Darrell made last year with a list of the parts he took off and put on with the weights. Hope it helps.

Stock K-member with stock A-arms - 79 lbs
Stock spindle and brakes (V8) - 51 lbs each side
Stock complete 8.8 rear axle (with brakes) - 183 lbs
Complete 8.8 with Mark Williams Ultra lite axles, spool, yoke, bracing, coil over mounts and Aerospace disc brakes - 181lbs
AJE chromoly K-member - 16 lbs
AJE 2" drop spindle - 9 lbs each
AJE tubular control arms with adjustable rod ends - 5lbs each
AJE 150lb coil over spring and strut cartridge - 10 lbs each
Stock front springs (V8) - 10 lbs each
Stock rear springs (V8) - 9 lbs each
Stock front seats and seat brackets - 36 lbs each
Polyethelyne drag seats w/aluminum mounting brackets - 12 lbs each
Stock rear lower control arms - 7 lbs each
Stock rear upper control arms - 3 lbs each
QA1 Proma Star coil over shock assembly - 8 lbs each
Heater assembly - 28 lbs
Sound deadener - 22 lbs
Sound deadening tar (stuck to floors and trund area) - 23 lbs
Aerospace front disc brake assembly (4 piston) - 14 lbs each
15x3.5 Weld Draglite wheel - 10 lbs each
15x10 Weld Draglite wheel - 14 lbs each
26x4.5-15 Mickey Thompson ET Front - 12 lbs each
stock master cylinder - 8 lbs
stock battery - 47 lbs
stock driveshaft - 19 lbs
Aerospace master cylinder kit - 3 lbs
Optima 8022-091 Battery - 35 lbs
Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft - 14 lbs

My 91 GT weighed 3300 pounds with me in it and lightweight wheels. Everything else was factory. Eventually the weight on that car went down to 3162 with me in it and still retained the factory K-member and suspension in the front. It is possible to get a 302 notchback in the mid 2600s with driver or less.

my lx was 3010 with no smog , ac, passenger seat, and spare tire.

the notchs are the lightest, and the verts are the heaviest, mine which is a vert wieghs 3310 and has alot stripped out

+1 Everything I could find which I had to go to what weight shippers charge for shipping them was, 3350 for vert, 3199 for gt hatch, 3149 for lx hatch and couldn't find notch, but you can look at them and tell they are the lightest.

my old notch was 2240 with a 4 point roll cage, but my vert is so much heavier

Its not that hard. Lose the sound proofing, the heater box, the a/c, the radio, all the seats except the driver's racing seat, drag lite wheels, and change the motor out with a 5.0 Briggs&Stratton. That should do it.

I was wondering that too. My car isn't that light right now without me in it and it doesn't have any glass in it or interior.
