noisy humm from egr area

need a little help. i have a 95 cobra and i'm getting a wierd humming noise from the egr area at low rpm's. it is inconsistent and its hard to get it to do it but it sounds horrible whe it does. sounds like its coming from the egr area but i really can't tell. it's not a ticking so i don't think its a exhaust leak, maybe a vacuum leak? anyone had anything similar to this happen, i have right at 118k on the car. how hard is it to remove all that egr crap?
