WATER PUMP RUNNING BACKWARDS WITHOUT SMOG OR AC!


Put the ac elimanator on so the ps pump is where the ac was. got the shorter belt... and walla my waterpump now spins backwards

whats a good way to remedy this situation?

you can fix it by putting the belt on the right way. theres even a little diagram for you right underneath the hood.

Define backwards.......

They are designed to run backwards (counter clockwise) from conventional water pumps.

Yeah if its really running backwards you probably just put it on backwards by mistake. Here's a copy of a chart from a previous post. Hope it helps.

Real Funny!!! And so helpful too. No diagram under the hood for a no smog pump and ps where ac once was though.

Thanks Darrell and whoever put up that Diagram! I did not know that the factory pump ran counterclockwise!

No monitor muscles here! Just didn't get the "little joke" as a thank you?. This question actually arose after a late night of working on my friends car. HE noticed that his belt was on the opposite side of the pulley then the pic showed and when we looked on the net all these other people had different "remedies" on how to fix the "backwards" running waterpump. once I got the smartass replys and actually some help from others I got the brilliant idea to check my ride out. And sure as shit my spins counter clockwise also! Like I said... late night!!! But hey everyone one is Human. By the way ZERO... Hows that new dizzy and coil helping your lack of fuel issue anyway?

But on the real Zero... Was it a pinched fuel line?

i havent really had the time to go out and tear anything big apart. its not a fuel problem like i originally thought though. when the car died in the parking lot here two days ago i took the bowl off.. and sure as hell.. it was almost full... so. thats the next thing i can think of.. that my hei unit is getting too hot in my distributor. ill buy a $5 set of points.. we'll see what happnens.
