horn problem


it doesnt work at all took the steering wheel apart cleaned the contacts but still nothing is this a common problem with an 87 gt

Took the steering wheel apart?!

Just change the horn.. it's really very cheap!

Yeah it won't work anymore! Might as well buy a new car! Although, it could have been the contacts in the wheel, I would have started with the relay, wiring, and the horn itself. Run a wire to the horn from the battery to see if it works.

does your cigarette lighter work? if it doesnt, just replace the fuse. if it does, do like ol boy above me said, and run a wire from the battery to the horn. check the grounds.. if running the wire to it still doesnt work, just replace the horn.

ive got the same problem with my '89 GT but my cigarette lighter does not work. every time i put a fuse in the fuse box it blows. Anyone know why?

because its shorted out after the fuse. its going to take some digging. if your radio doesnt work either id take that wiring harness apart. replace the fuse and try again.. after that.. check the cigarette lighter for anything that got in there and arced and after that is the horn. check in the steering column first, then the horn itself and then the wiring.
