Exhaust port matching
Most of us know what should be done when it comes to gasket-matching the intake ports for both the manifold & head.
But when it comes to the exhaust side, it's confusing. I have Windsor Sr Lite heads, Fel-Pro 1415 (1.250"x1.480") and BBK 1-5/8" shorties. The opening dimensions are different with all the 3 above: The gasket openings are too large for the head exhaust ports. The headers on the other hand have different dimensions: the header flange openings, then reduced through the welded joints to the header pipe bore! First of all do I need to port the exhaust side for N/A? Should I stick to the pipe bore dimensions or port the heads to match the gaskets? Thanks!!! |
