Any Horsepower Gains From This ?

I finally got my motor broken in and I'm taking the car to the dyno next friday.

Heres my question:

My brother has an 88 lx and his car made 340rwhp/ 350rwtq with a 306ci, 11 to 1 compression, AFR 185cc heads, X303 cam, TFS track-heat intake, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, 1 3/4 longtubes, 30lbs, ext........

My car has a 306ci with 12.2.1 compression, AFR 185cc heads port matched to intake & exhaust, 620 lift lunati cam, TFS R intake, 75mm TB, 75mm MAF, 1 3/4" longtubes port matched to exhaust side of heads

Would my car make alot more horsepower than his or will it be just close?

personally i think you got to much cam and you should have went with a 165 head instead of the 185

Yeah the cam is way to much but I think he will be ok with the AFR 185's because of the high compression he has.. You gonna be able to run pump gas with that?

The lift of the cam doesn't really say much. What are the rest of the specs? How did you come up with the compression ratio?

that's "A LOT" of lift... For a 306ci, you dont need that kinda cam or those heads. Maybe if it was a 347 stroker, then those mods might be all nice and well, but your choice of parts dont match or complement each other.

Lunati 51018 Cam:

242/ 252 Duration @0.050
560/576 Lift w/1.6's
599/ 619 Lift w/1.72's
110 LSA

The pistons are TRW L2249N. They have a 13.1.0 ratio with 54.5cc heads, 12.2.1 with 58cc, 11.0.1 with 63cc

Its runs on straight VP 110

Cubic inch is only one part of the equation........and a very small part at that.

That cam will work with that set up. I wouldn't go buy what the box says for compression. You really need to calculate it. It should be relatively close to what the box says though. Make sure your gearing (and converter if you have an automatic) match the power range of the engine. You are going to need an aftermarket EFI system or piggyback if you are still running EFI because you will need to spin that thing over 6250 rpm.

Yeah, I don't think they factor in the thickness of the gasket or the volume around the outside of the piston down to the first compression ring, but like he said it is probably pretty close.

He can also can use an RPM extender if he dont want to spend the $$ on the other things

Yes he can. The RPM Extender falls into the "piggyback" category.

ive always thought that the bigger the ports on the heads the more you flow in and out, and that the cam, intake, and other parts should all match or be pretty close to the same rpm operating range. but cubes didnt really matter that much. with that high compression and that much lift that motor should be thuppin. i got 10.1:1 pistons in my 4.3 and a 16* advance timing and i have to run premium or it pings.
