cluth pressure plate/throw out bearing

Ok I've looked every where and can't find the answer, I can't seem to get my clutch adjusted correctly. I was told by a mechanic that the tob should be a little bit away from the fingers on the pressure plate, but when I adjust it like that it doesn't have a far enough pull to disengage the clutch. I've also read that the tob is supposed to ride the pp fingers all the time.

So which one is right?

Thank you

supposed to touch it, just take the slack outa the pedal. Any more itll be puttin pressure on it constantly and the clutch will get ruined
