Idiot of the year award goes to.......me!

Well after getting the 347 going it has a hell of a vibration. shaking the whole damn car. I bought the motor with the short block already put together, I put everything else together. When i bought it I had the receipt of the stroker kit, and all the parts they guy had bought, most of the stuff was there new in boxes. He had new balancer and new flywheel, 50oz. I looked at the recipt for the stroker kit from TMD and the part number ended in 50, so i took it for granted that it was balanced for 50oz.After I notice the vibration I called TMD and they said no that is just wheight for shipping purposes, and the kits are unbalanced. I called the guy I bought the motor from and asked him what it was balanced at, he had no idea what I was talking about. I got the name of the machine shope it was put together at but they are already closed for the day, so I guess tomorow I get to find out how bad I have fucked up. hopefully it is balanced at 50oz, or even 28 wouldn't be too bad, I could just change flywheel and damper. The kit was unbalanced, hopefully they knew this, and balanced it. If not, its coming all the way back apart.

Sorry about the foul launguage. I let it idle yesterday for about 15 min and reved to 3k for a few min while I played with the title. Never reved over 3k. hopefully it is fine. It will all work out, just a huge set back, maybe would be a good time to switch the f-cam.

The kit itself is unbalanced, but the crank should be either an internal balance, or an external balance. Generally aftermarket kits are 28 oz external. Call them back and ask them what balance the crank itself is, not if the kit has been balanced together or not. It's a good idea to have the assembly balanced any way you look at it though (assuming it hasn't been already). Have you ever seen the crank? If so were there holes drilled in the bottoms of the counterweights?

well that is some good news. I did see the crank, I think it had shallow holes drilled into the bottom of the counter weights, but not possitive. I will call them back tomorow.

It cam with a new f-cam and I went ahead and put it in there. I was going to do a head and cam swap this winter, but if I end up having to take it back apart, then I am tossing out the f-cam and getting custom or anderson.

The reason is because it's in the forum rules.... Need more of a reason?

I called TMD today. They are telling me that it is easier to balance at 28oz, but the kit has to be balanced no matter what. This kit was put together unbalaced, so are my only option to take this damn thing apart and have it all balanced?

Yeah that sucks man. Tearing it apart is about it. There are no kits made that are ready to bolt in.

Thanks for clearing that up Einstein. I'm new and trying to figure this forum out. As far as I can tell most of the rules aren't enforced but one rule that is not really a rule is enforced. I'm not trying to be a smartass just trying to figure out what the rules actually are.

Yea, this really sucks. I was hoping I just had to swap balancer and flywheel.

If you are new, maybe you should watch your P's and Q's while you figure things out then. Respect is never given until it's earned. Remember that.
