Heads/Cam idle question

Will a higher lift/duration cam always result in a rougher idle or will it depend on how well the heads flow?

This is probably a horrible example, but would a TFS stage 2 cam result in a rougher idle with AFR 165's vs. higher flowing 185's or would the idle be the same despite the flow of the heads?

The reason I ask is because a guy I work with wants to run a set of GT40p heads with a higher lift cam, not necessairly a TFS 2 cam.

He is aware he can get a set of TFS springs to run a higher lift, but supposing he upgrades later to aluminum heads which flow better will it result in a smoother idle or would he still keep the lopey idle he is aiming for now?

Also will he need any fuel mods with the gt40p heads and will the cam he chooses dictate his ignition timing?

with gt40p's and a cam and intake to match id probly go ahead and step up to 24 lb injectors
