Throttle Body quiestion?

How much of a Difference will I feel upgrading to a 65MM throttle body?

My intake is supposed to be ported to 65MM and I am running the Stock throttle body now.

Just wondering if I will feel the Difference on the Speed Density system.

Upgrading to a bigger throttle body is a waste of money on a mild engine. You will be real lucky if you see 7-9 hp.

I figure every little bit helps. Say you only get 7 hp from it. You only get 8 from a K&N filter. You only get 5 from bumping the timing. You only get 8 from UD pullies. But, if you add it all up you have an extra 30 horses.

I got a bigger 70mm TB when I converted to MAF from my stock 87. So it made a huge difference to me

What about the horsepower that it loses across the midrange? Peak horsepower doesn't mean jack if there is no midrange. Pick up the book by Richard Holdener called "5 liter dyno tests". You probably won't believe some of the things in their because for years all of these performance companies have been filling peoples heads full of crap. Its good reading.

I agree, it's better to have a broad torque and hp curve from say 2000-6500 vs. only concentrating on peak hp & torque. A 2stroke dirt bike is a perfect example of this. They're run ok but once you get them "up on the pipe" they run like a raped ape. On a street car, how much time do you really spend at the peak hp rpm?

I fully agree here. Most of the car mags out there are guilty of this also. Look at almost any one of them and see what they are pushing in their install articles. Most install articles are really nothing more than an overglorified sales ad.

You hit the nail on the head Twister. Magazine articles are all junk. Money is what makes the article. That is why everything built and tested in magazines ALWAYS makes more power and works better than anything built in the real world. Flow numbers are inflated, dyno numbers are inflated, etc.
