How to test the clutch

Is there a way to test the clutch operation without the transmission connected? I have the trans out and am installing a new clutch cable, I want to test the cable for clutch engagement before I reinstall the trans and everything else.

I was just hoping there was a way since help is scarce in my house and I am not looking forward to putting the trans back in by myself.

I never took the flywheel and bellhousing off so its still attached to the block and the trans is out. So i have simplified it as much as possible. I just hope this BBK adjustable cable fixes it.

Don't press the clutch in without the trans attached already. Or you'll be taking it back apart to realign the clutch disk with that little plastic tool cuz it will fall out of place.
