Whats thats called?

There was a small diameter metal pipe that was running from the passenger side of the engine compartment down to I think the Exhaust or Catalytic conveters... I dont exactly know what it was 'cause the guy who offered to do my header job cut it out with a grinder and left after saying he couldnt finish the job...

So i went and bought shorties and installed them, but am still left with this pipe.. It looks like theres a spot for a vaccum line to attach, like a blow off valve, but I know... Its not one. If you know what this is, could you help me? And If so, i doubt that ill be able to replace it so how would I be able to delete it... I believe that smog pump kit is involved, but plugging holes seems to be the issue.. Sorry, just started working on cars myself, and teaching myself as i go. Thanks for all the help!

EGR maybe ......... I doubt your car has 1 tho

It's just for emissions and and feeding air to your cats. Has nothing to do with the headers. Where on the tube did he cut it? Up top, or down at the bottom?

Do you have to get an inspection sticker in your state?

No inspection sticker, and I didnt know what the pipe is, and this is a 5.0, figureed a general question would belong here. Thanks for the info fellas, i believe if i add the smog eliminator kit, the instructions say to plug the tube with 5/8 rubber caps so i think ill be ok, thanks again.
