damn...car is in storage again...

Getting ready to go back to Camp Lejuene , then over seas again (deployment number 2) im so excited, but on another note, Foxey Lady will be hibernating for quite some time, i already miss her and its been only two weeks...

any tips or things i should do to help with keep her locked up for so long

drain oil?

im going to buy a bag of charcoal and some baking soda so the storage unit will stay real dry, and im going to put her on jackstands just to take some weight off the tires, so i dont get flat spots

If it was me, I'd take the wheels off and mount it on blocks and keep the wheels someplace else. This will 1. prolong the life of the rubber tires, but 2. (and most importantly) God forbid this ever happen, but if someone where to break in it would keep them from stealing the car. Just a thought that came into my head. Might look into a fuel stabalizing addative.

Thanks for your service and come back safe.

I'd keep it on the tires, your car spends its entire life with the weight distributed on the tires with those tires outside in contact with the ground. Sure, you may get a flat spot but that's better than having it up in the air putting the weight on other spots of the car that were not designed to hold that weight long term. Way different situation but I had a car up on stands where I thought it was close enough to the control arms for about 12 months while I fixed the trans, when I dropped it back down, the drivers door would no longer shut because the car twisted. It was a cheap early 80's GM but I'll never try it again.

All I would do.. Try your favorite trick for keeping the mice out and if your gas is still fresh, put in some stabil (it doesnt help if the gas is already more than a few weeks old), and disconnect one of the battery terminals.

Having the tires off would be one more hurdle for someone looking to steal it. Hell, take out your rotor, pull the TFI connector half way out and swap your coil wire at the dizzy with one of your plug wires. Just remember all of that when you come back or you'll be towing it yourself.

i would say that the jack stands would be fine IMO, as long as u had it on the control arms and axle. def do the fuel stabalizer, and after u put it in make sure and run it for a bit so that it gets ran in your fuel system so you dont have any issues. if you have power at your unit i would also recommend a trickle charger. dont drain the oil, that will just give it more of a chance to build condensation inside

Heres what i would do.
Stabil
Add more air to tires since it will be sitting on them
Put a thing of damp-rid inside to keep humidity out
Unhook battery
Cover exhaust so little pests wont get in there.
Might as well spray some ortho bug killer around ur car if you dont want spiders and crap getting in ur car too lol.

Instead of all this nonsense, you could just drive down to my house and I'll exercise it for you.

I would buy a sting about 1foot high, across the entrance door. As well as cover the entire floor with mouse traps. Not only will no mice make it to your car alive, but if an intruder come along he will trip over the string when he enters the door and become covered in hundreds of mouse traps, hopefully deterring him from theft.

Put dryer sheets in the car, like bounce or whatever. For whatever reason, mice don't like it and a pleasant side effect is that you car will smell good when you get back in it. I usually use about 4 in the passanger compartment, 2 in the hatch and stick a couple under the hood.

I picked up a sheet of pink insulation board 1 1/2"-2" thick. Cut them in 2' x 2' squares and park the tires on them. Helps to reduce the flat spots. Also I store it on a large sheet of clear plastic to keep the moisture down away from the underside. I would not drain the oil.
