no trans filter on 5-speeds? (newbie question)

no trans filter on 5-speeds? (newbie question)


so my 89 gt 5-speed doesn't have a trans filter only the aod's do?

so just drain it and fill it back up?

what fluid should i run?

yea, drain ti and fill it. I fill through the shifter, otherwise youll need pump to fill it.

standard trannys dont run filters. drain and re-fill and you shouldnt have to worry again unless you have a leak

T5 transmissions use Mercon ATF or you can use Dexron II or III ATF which is equivelent.

Yeah, your t5 is a world class which takes ATF like he said. The non world class 83 and 84 use 70 weight gear oil.
