none roller lifter change.

ok so i have a 78 302 that has a few bad lifters, the motor itself only has about 10k miles on it....

my question is is it safe to swap just the lifters and not the cam?...i have always heard that flat tapped lifters wear to the cam lob and switching them out can sometimes whip out a cam lob.

thanks let me know.

Your title says roller in it, but you say flat tappet in the post. Which one do you have? If it's roller, you can change it out, if it's flat tappet, I don't have a clue since all I know is what you already know: They wear in together.

"non-roller" = "flat tappet".........

google searching for like 2 minutes showed that most people recommend replacing the cam with new lifters, and vice versa.

its kind of a budget car that im putting together for my girl friend, and i dont wanna spend alot. i just think its highly unlikely that all the lifters are seized.
