they remove the drive shaft right?


they remove the driveshaft when they do a gear swap right. got gears last weekend and now 2 drops have leaked out of my transmission seal.

I put in a new seal everytime I take out my shaft...

As a mechanic, I can tell you that technicaly the shaft does not have to come out of the tranny. Most of the time people will take the extra 2 seconds to pull it out but you can just take the 4 bolts out of the rear end and the shaft will hang about 2 feet out of the way. I always check the seal prior to taking the shaft out and if there is any doubt i replace it. They are a dime a dozen and frequently leak.

remove the driveshaft, GENTLY pry out the old seasl and tap in the new one till its flush, smear a small amount of grease and re-install the driveshaft. be sure you tap it in a little at a time around the seal
