fmu unit

I seen some supercharger kits come with a fmu unit. What exactly is that? I have a sct 4 bank chip and a 255 walbro pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and 30lb injectors. do i need the fmu with the kit or what? Im kind of clueless on what this is and its purpose so any info is helpful.

Its a fuel management unit.. does just that, helps deliver the correct fuel for a supercharged system. Its not needed if you get it tuned by a shop (recommended)

It increases the fuel pressure so that your injector will spray more fuel than it would at the normal pressure. It's a band-aid for not having the correct sized injectors to support the power level. If it fails, you go lean and can destroy your engine. It also shortens the lifespan of the injectors.

Well, get the right sized injectors for the job. How much boost you plan on and for what engine combo will dictate the size injectors you'll need. Tune is always a good idea when changing injectors. It's better to put the injector parameters into the computer directly than to fool it with a calibrated MAF.

yeah i think the 30lbs will be too small and after i get the supercharger i decide on i will have it tuned because i already have the sct 4 bank chip in my car so they will just rutune it. so with that being said when i order the kit i should tell them to leave out the fmu and save a couple bucks right?
