Getting some hesitation..?

I'm new to the board, so whats up everyone?

Anyway. My 89 5.0, I've only had it for a couple months now, but here within the last few days I've been getting some hesitation when I accelerate, I figured it was some water in the fuel lines so I put a little bit of rubbing alcohol in my gas tank.

It stopped for a couple days, but now it came back.

So I'm assuming that it isn't water in the fuel lines because I haven't filled up since then, so could it be the spark plugs?

I don't think the Intake timing is off. What else could it be that's causing this?

It could be many things. What exactly do u mean by hesitation and when exactly does it happen? ( like as soon as u hit the gas or while accelerating)

It happens as I'm accelerating, like I can feel it kind of cut out as I'm going down the road, not like it should. Not full on lose power, but like it kind of jumps a little.

if you let the car warm up it wouldnt be the plugs as that would only happen with old plugs on a cold start...

is that gradual acceleration from what your experiencing the issue or full on throttle?

It sounds like a dying battery, bad fuel pump, or dirty fuel injector ( Im not sure about the last one). Im leaning towards the battery.

Perform some routine maintenance first. Also, there's a great chance you have to get your EGR valve replaced. A faulty one makes its presence most visible during acceleration and is known to cause jerks and hesitation when flooring the pedal. For good measure check your dizzy and its cap, that can also cause bad acceleration

i would go for plugs, wires, cap, coil, and fuel system. look at the fuel filter to see if it needs replacing. they can clog up. if none of it has been done in a while i would say go for it all. a lot of intermittent surging can be the ignition system.
