First pass at the dragstrip. WOOHOO!!!!!

Ok fella's I posted about a month ago about my car and asked if anyone could guess the time it would run. First, the specs: 88 mustang gt, gutted, stock 2.73 gears, AOD w/3000 stall. Engine: no p/s or a/c, stock lower end w/new rod and main bearings, 289 ported and polished heads w/1.6 procomp rockers, Trickflow Stage 1 cam, stock intake w/BBK cold air induction. 93 octane pump gas. 26x10 M/T E/T Drags. Subframe connectors, electric fan, 3" crank pulley, 1 5/8 shorty headers w/ H-pipe. That said, I finally got it to the local 1/8 mile track and ran a 8.78 out of the box. I should have the 4.10 gears in the next couple weeks which should drop me to low 8's. Anyway, just thought I would pass it on. MUSTANGS RULE!!!

Nice man. I put a set of exhaust ported 289 hi-po heads (with larger steel valves) on myself but havent run it yet I still got to get the suspension right first. What mph did you manage and what elevation?

Man I am glad your happy! But is that fast? The 1/8 mile SUCK'S!!!!! It does not tell you anything other then if you were street light racing you might be fast. But most will run you down in the upper end of a 1/4 mile and that is really the case where ported heads and big cam's come into play. Save your money for the quarter mile track even if you only make it once a year there is no comparison. Just my 2cent's Thanks for sharing.

That is about 1.1 seconds faster than my stock AOD. I ran a high 9 in the 1/8...

my blazer runs a 15.8 in the 1/4 but low 9's to high 8's in the 1/8 so it really is alot moer to tell in the 1/4 than 1/8

Thats why I asked about MPH and elevation because its a far better indicator of HP then ET.

Elevation was 475 ft. MPH around 78 (still in second gear due to stock 2.73 rear).
